Statement: The First Sisterhood was created on the idea of matrilineal bonds, the relationships between grandmother, mother, daughter, etc., and how such bonds are tied together through blood and heart.
Angela Maree Saenz is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Portland, OR. Her practice is a semi-autobiographical telling of her family history, her lived experiences, and her observations. Her work has showed at the Center for Contemporary Art and Culture, Blackfish Gallery, and UNA gallery. She began her arts education as a part of the Kent Bellows Center for Visual Arts (Omaha, NE) and has recently obtained her BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
