Suburban Dog

Posted on 12.13.19 by Alison Cantrell

Art by Katija Bogdanic

Size: 48″x 30″

Medium: Acrylic, caulk, insulation foam, cloth, foam board

Statement: This relief-style painting illustration is an ode to all the time dogs spend waiting for their owners to come home.

As a first-generation immigrant, Katija Bogdanic is heavily influenced by her Croatian grandmother’s well-preserved craft traditions and the generational, cultural, and social connections within gender politics and domesticity. Her multimedia work is heavily processed based and experimental. In 2019, she received a BFA in Craft with a concentration in painting from the Oregon College of Art and Craft. After living most of her life in the US, she has returned to her home country and is currently pursuing her MFA in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Croatia. www.katijabogdanic.com
