We are proud to present the poetry of a variety of strong creative voices from our corner of the Pacific Northwest for this, the Summer 2018 issue of VoiceCatcher. Here, poets whose words are just beginning to be revealed to the world sit beside the words of award-winning and extensively published poets, each offering something unique.
These poems explore the tragedies and triumphs of family through the eyes of daughters, mothers, and partners. They examine our beautiful and difficult relationship to the land as well as each other. And they offer messages of strength and encouragement. In other words, these poems are us. As we work our way through our complex lives these words are the place where we can pause to honor, question, and celebrate each other.
We thank all the poets who submitted their work for this issue and all those who take the time to savor these words. We hope you enjoy them.
