Sir Nicholas the Brave (Lai Poem)

Posted on 01.20.21 by Alison Cantrell

Poetry by Tina Klammer

He tips his arrow
the point quite narrow
with bane.
Up heath and harrow
past pail and barrow
through rain.
Fight tooth and marrow
tame frog and sparrow
boys’ games.

He’ll fight to the death
wild as Behemoth
he’ll punch.
He’ll stomp baby’s breath
he’ll channel Macbeth
he’ll crunch.
A kid megalith
he’ll not take a breath
till lunch.

Tina Klammer is a writer living in Portland, Oregon, with her family. She was born and raised in New Mexico and is still amazed at the lushness of the Pacific Northwest forests and green spaces. Her work has been featured in True Parent magazine and Country Pleasures magazine.
