Consider an argument or a moment that went badly, a situation that quickly got out of control, a conversation with your sister, your mother, your lover, your daughter. Imagine you could relive the moment and undo everything. Put pen to paper and begin writing what you wouldn’t do given the opportunity to relive the moment.
For example, “I would not bring up your mother, that woman … .”
Write it out as a list. And then, after 5-10 minutes, write what you would do. Exhaust the possibilities and see what surprises you in the end.
